Abstract

Entrepreneurship is the driving force of economic development. To insure sustainable development of a state like Uttarakhand, development of entrepreneurship is need of the hour. The objective of the present study is to understand the entrepreneurial intention among the students and factors affecting this intention.

The study examines the role of contextual (demographic) factors in shaping the entrepreneurial intention among the students. The empirical study is based on a sample of 880 graduation final year students studying in different colleges of Uttarakhand in conventional and professional courses. On the basis of literature survey a questionnaire was developed and administered on the students.

Among demographic factors gender, academic performance, and family background significantly affect career intention; male students with entrepreneurial family background are more likely to have entrepreneurial career intention.
