Abstract

The present study is done to focus on different Physico-chemical characteristics of water at different sites as well as in different seasons. Life in water bodies whether it is floral or faunal is totally governed by the properties of water including the Physico-chemical and biological characteristics. The existence of life takes place only within the narrow range of these characteristics, which are maintained by water in different seasons of the year. The study of Physico-chemical environment is an essential component in determining the productivity of an ecosystem. The present work is based on the hydro-biological study of three freshwater fish ponds of Meerut region viz.Nanpur, Shahjahanpur and Kithore. These ponds are selected for study because fishes are also important to measure the productivity of an ecosystem. Significant changes are recorded in almost all the parameters which enable us to calculate that how their complex interdependency affects the productivity of an ecosystem.
