India is the second largest producer of cement in the world. Cement production increased at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.7 per cent in the period 2006–2013, producing 272 million tonnes (MT). The production capacity is projected to reach 550 MT by Financial Year 2020. Energy intensity indicators for Indian Cement Industry has been. developed and analyzed here in this study. This study attempts to analyze the factors of energy intensity of Indian Cement Industry using data from the PROWESS database of the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) for the period 2005–2014.
