The present study aims to extract the lineaments present in the Omkareshwar region and assess the lineament density of the area using GIS techniques. The lineaments in the study area are identified from the IRS LISS IV satellite image of the study area. The lineaments are delineated using the GIS software. The study of lineaments from satellite imagery provides a suitable alternative analysis technique.
The lineament map shows the distribution of lineaments present in the area. To locate the fracture zones, it will be very useful. The lineament density map is created from the extracted lineament map. It gives the idea about the frequency of lineaments located in various parts of the study area.
