Abstract

Coupling is power transmission device which transmits mechanical power from driver to driven equipment. To clamp the coupling and to transmit torque through the coupling, coupling bolts play the significant role. As the torque gets transmitted through this coupling bolt, pressure is applied o n this coupling bolt and failure takes place. If properly designed, selected and maintained, the coupling can last long and give satisfactory service on drive and driven equipment. In this paper first Metallurgical study is done and then the Coarse thread and Fine thread differentiation is studied. Coupling bolt design is carried out for standardization which makes it easy further for manufacturing. In Manufacturing of the coupling bolt Process Sequence is important and same is proposed.
