Factors That Affect Influence Academic Motivation of Engineering Graduates

Motivation has been a driving force in one's performance. There could not be and cannot be a comprehensive list of factors that motivate people as there are different reasons for different people to be motivated. This paper attempted to study the factors that motivate Engineering students who belonged to Net generations as the knowledge of the factors that motivate them would be useful to organizations to apply them when these Net generation graduates join organizations. The study was conducted among six hundred engineering students of Anna University in Tamilnadu. The paper discusses the seven factors that motivate engineering students as identified by the respondents of this study. The seven factors are: Parents, encouragement from others, appreciation from others, personal responsibility, proper guidance, a successful career and group study. These factors that motivate the engineering graduates are presented and discussed in the order of preference.
