Abstract

An attempt was made to create hydrophobic structures on polymethylmethacrylate film by treatment in suitable solvent. The films were prepared by dip and dry method and morphology of the films were characterized by scanning electron microscopy. Hydrophobicity was measured by contact angle of the film surface. Anti bacterial adhesion property of the films against E.coli was checked by different method of bacterial growth inhibition test. Characterization and analysis of the prepared structured untreated, treated and standard film showed the hydrophobic structured surface which gives poor bacterial growth and adhesion as compared to other film. Conclusion was drawn that films can be used in medical field to protect bacterial contamination.
