Abstract

A.C. motors are relatively inexpensive and very reliable. The supply frequency is fixed, while many applications require variable frequency. This paper compares the simulation results of the speed control of single phase induction motor using Multisim software, MATLAB Simulink and a hardware model using a microcontroller and a single phase cyclo converter. This enables the control of speed in three steps. This concept can be further improved and implemented to control the speed of a three phase induction motor.
