The main objective of Economic Load Dispatch (ELD) problem is to schedule the connecting generating units of plant outputs, so as to fulfill load demands at minimum operating costs while satisfying all operational constraints. Economic Load Dispatch (ELD) is one of an important optimization tasks which provides an economic condition for power systems. Recently Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithms inspired by collective behaviour of swarm has been applied successfully to solve ELD problem. The proposed method is able to determine, the output power generation of all the power generation units, so that the total constraint cost function is minimized. The performance of the developed methodology is demonstrarted by case studies in the test system of Six-generating units and Fifteen-generating units. The result obtained from PSO are compared to those achieved from other approaches. These results prove that the proposed method is capable of getting higher quality solution including mathematical simplicity, fast convergence, and robustness to solve hard optimization problems.
