The recent development of Cloud Computing provides a compelling value proposition for organizations to outsource their Information and Communications Technology infrastructure. One of the prime issues found in cloud environment is excessive power utilization in the datacenters that consume enough power equivalents to a city. Furthermore, it is also desirable to limit the number of servers to reduce power consumption, but on the other hand, obtaining good response time requires many available servers. However, reducing energy consumption has been an essential technique for Cloud resources or datacenters, not only for operational cost, but also for system reliability. Hence, the current research work is focused on providing an alternative solution to solve the power consumptions issues in datacenters. The research proposal probes various aspects of modeling the power consumption in datacenters. The present study investigates power aware policies of virtual machines for Cloud services and the importance of adhoc frequency scaling for cloud environment.
