Abstract

This paper is based on harmonics reduction in single phase multilevel inverters. This harmonic reduction is achieved by reducing the no. of switches used in cascade H-Bridge inverter which form new inverter known as multilevel inverter. Cascade H-Bridge inverter contains more no. of switches as compared to new multilevel inverter having a combination of level modules and H-Bridge. MATLAB software has been used for simulation. By comparing parameter like Active power, Reactive power, Total Harmonic Distortion in load voltage we are comparing the performance of these two inverters. As a result we get low Total harmonic distortion(THD), better power quality, high efficiency and cost efficient new multilevel inverter but the Active power and Reactive power are more in multilevel inverter.
