Abstract

The main motive of the study was to examine the hospital waste management and role of health care workers regard this field. According to World Health Organization, each year half million people globally die due to infections such as hepatitis B and C, HIV and cancer transmitted through unsafe healthcare practices. This study shows the hospital waste analysis and management in Sirsa City. The study shows the knowledge level, attitude and role of health care workers towards the medical waste management. It was observed that only 46.6% of all health care units under study were aware of central pollution control board rules for hospital waste management. Only 26.6% of all health care units had trained staff.
