In the present work, the high temperature oxidation behavior of detonation un sprayed diamalloy 4700(Co 32Ni 21Cr 7.7Al 0.5Y) coating on SA 516 Grade 70 boiler steel at 900°C in air under cyclic heating and cooling conditions for 50 cycles was studied. Each cycle consisted of 1 h heating in a tube furnace followed by 20 min cooling in ambient air. For each cyclethe weight change was measured. The kinetics of oxidation of coated and bare boiler steel has been established with the help of weight change measurements. The SEM along with EDS techniques were used to analyse the oxidation products of the coated and uncoated boiler steel. The results showed that the coating was successful in reducing the weight gain.
