The aim of the study is to recognize and evaluate the Practices of TQM which are significantly responsible for successful implementation of TQM in steel industries.
To achieve the above objective strong literature review was carried out to categorize the TQM practices followed by a survey from steel industries of Chhattisgarh. Questionnaire survey method was adopted for the same and 150 data was collected from the top and middle management of steel industries on which empirical analysis was carried out. The outcome of the study was analyzed using graphical representation and descriptive statistical analysis.
After analyzing the all the TQM practices using Pareto Analysis 17 practices were identified and positioned which are necessary for TQM implementation in steel industries. These practices are namely Customers Focus, Process management/Efficiency, Education & Training, Employee Involvement & Empowerment, Top Management Commitment, Information and Analysis, Leadership, Continuous improvement, HRM and Development, Supplier Relationship/Mgmt., Strategic Planning, Quality
The study will help the managers of steel industries to have a better understanding of those TQM practices which are significantly important for successful implementation of TQM in organization. It will thus also assist in framing the future strategies for the organization.
