Abstract

Bridges are most important part of transportation system. With increase of population and industries of countries, transportation network also increase. Increase of transportation network required more bridges. Behavioural response of complex reinforced concrete bridges to seismic events is essential to designing safe transportation systems. In past, a number of skewed bridges have experienced damage or suffered collapse due to earthquake. Yet, there is very limited information about seismic response of RC skew bridges. The present paper is an attempt to study the effect of skew angle on RC bridges. With different skew angles 15°, 30°, 45° and 60° four bridges are designed in CSI BRIDGE 2014 and their results compare with normal bridge.
