Abstract

Technologies have transformed businesses through various modes and created immense value for the society. Some of these technologies are disruptive, their impact in society have been profound and have changed our daily lives in some way or the other. The world is witnessing a dramatic revolution whereby every physical object is connected to the Internet through the ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT). This revolution is also being termed as the Fourth revolution, the third revolution being the Internet. IoT is also referred to as connected technology as it involves connection of physical objects to generate data. Connected technologies would bring about bring about significant business benefits worth billions of dollars across various industries. Connected technologies will have an impact on all parts of the Oil and Gas industry value chain. The Oil and Gas industry is witnessing a digital revolution through the digitization of physical assets enabled by real-time information. This paper depicts the use of Connected Technologies such as Internet of Things at Gas and Fuel Stations worldwide.
