Abstract

With the constant use of electrical machines in homes and industries, there is a need to provide suitable thermal analysis in order to improve their performance and prevent them from undue damage. There are two main types of machine analysis: electromagnetic and thermal analyses. Thermal analysis involves the production, transfer and effects of heat on an electrical machine when in operation. This work discusses the production, transfer and effects of heat using the transformer as an electrical machine; it also has established a frame work for detailed thermal analysis through the application of the knowledge of heat transfer schemes.
