In the present scenario material selection criteria in aerospace, defense, automobile, sports equipment is superior strength and light weight with high temperature resistance. In Aluminium Metal Matrix Composite (MMC), if reinforcement material is refractory then generally the hardness, tensile strength and high temperature properties of the composite material are improved. In the present study Aluminium is chosen because of its superior strength to weight ratio while SiC is used because of its, low-density, high levels of hardness, strength, elastic modulus, thermal stability and relatively high wettability in comparison to other ceramics. In this work an attempt has been made by mixing of Al 6063 and silicon carbide to obtain homogenous composite material by optimizing the following process parameters namely rotational speed, time and wt percentage of silicon carbide and to study the hardness of aluminium metal matrix composite at different weight fraction of SiC. To achieve this objective, a two step-mixing method of stir casting technique is used.
