Abstract

The progress of any country depends on the financial status of women. If we take India as the case, the empirical results show there is a huge economic disparity which exists even among women in India. This paper is an attempt made to throw a light on the disparity which exists among women of rural and urban Indiaon the basis of the most recent survey done by NSS. The paper will also highlight the gender disparity which exist in India, especially as women constitute 48.5% of the total Indian population.
