Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) is connecting people and smart devices on a large scale. One key challenge for the IoT is to manage huge amount of sensing data generated from different sources like smart devices etc. Without effective environment and a scalable architecture in place, it will be extremely difficult to handle or plan of IoT. This paper addresses the Internet of Things with focus on architecture and basic elements of IoT. The IoT is enabled by the latest developments in RFID, smart sensors, communication technologies, and Internet protocols. This paper begins by an overview and key element of IoT. Then, we give some technical detail of IoT architecture along with different layered architecture of IoT. We also provide an overview of some of the key IoT challenges presented in the current era.
