This paper presents a review on a major category of coordinated attacks i.e. black hole attack which is a serious threat to ad ho c network security. In black hole attack multiple nodes collude to hide the malicious activity of other nodes; hence such attacks are more difficult to detect. In this paper a survey of various security mechanisms for removal of such attacks have been presented.
