Abstract

Design of machine tool is an important aspect of production process. Traditionalmethods of designing machine tools depend upon designers, knowledge, intuitionand experience. Modern techniques like fuzzy logic, genetic algorithm have thecapability to generate solutions from approximate information. In this work application of fuzzy logic in machine tool design is presented. Input variable referred to as parameters are identified for design of a machine tool component and an algorithmis used for design lathe bed. Results are compared with traditional techniques andadvantage of proposed method.
