Abstract

Peace Education is the process by which teaching and learning take place with a view to effecting a change in people's behaviour. Peace culture on the other hand is a shared dynamic process designed to respond to conflicts non-violently by promoting a civilised atmosphere of tolerance and accountability in governance with a view to preserving the dignity of man. This paper explored the needs for integrating peace education and peace culture as conflict management strategies into the Nigeria's educational system. The work made use of secondary source for gathering data. Findings reviewed that, over the ages, people across various cultures have been exposed to aggressive behaviour, inclined towards coercive approaches to conflict management, and presumed that violence and injustice are a fact of life. However, we can we can build a better world and lives in harmony with one another through, tolerance, empathy etcetera.
