Abstract

Education is basically a continuous and social process by which knowledge is transferred to students through the teachers by utilizing available resources in a given framework. The quality of citizens of a country depends upon the quality of their education and the quality of education depends more upon the quality of teachers. The teachers play a vital role in teaching-learning process. A good committed teacher makes a big difference to the quality of learning and education. Good teachers are those who are sincere, skilled, truthful, courageous and compassionate. Present paper deals vision and scenario of teacher education in India with the help of important documents. The focus of paper is to identify and suggest some innovative steps for quality assurance of teacher education. Various steps related to teacher education institutions, teacher educators, learners, infrastructures, use of technology, curriculum, methodology, Pre-service teacher education and In-service teacher education with some innovative ideas are suggested to make the teacher education effective.
