Abstract

In various applications, image fusion plays an important role. Image fusion is nothing but combining two or more images into a single image by extracting important features from each of the images. The fusion of images is often required to fuse images that are captured from instrument. Complex Wavelet based fusion techniques have been used in combining perceptually important features. A novel image fusion technique based on dual-tree complex wavelet transform is presented in this paper. Dual tree CWT is an extension to discrete wavelet transform (DWT). Our approach is based on a gradient domain technique that preserves important local perceptual features which avoids many problems such as ghosting, aliasing and haloing.
