Uplift effect of foundations with concentric openings is presented in this paper. A square footing resting on the surface of a half-space is analysed. A substructure method is used for the analysis. The soil and foundation are analysed separately and then coupling of the two substructures was done. The nonlinearity is studied in time domain and Laplace domain technique is used for all other calculations. The results show that the nonlinearity significantly affects the responses. The presence of geometry also affects the response.
