A New AHP Model for Selecting the Best Battery for a Fire Fighting and Rescue Boat: Mofeed

Kuwait Fire Service Directorate, Engineering Sector and Information Systems, Management of Vehicles and Equipments, Head of Reception Department, Alrai city, Kuwait

Abstract

This study seeks to develop an Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) model capable of selecting the best battery for any given Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) boat. A case study of the KFSD boat Mofeed was investigated, and the identified influencing criteria were used in the AHP model to analyse then choose among three types of battery: conventional, AGM, and Gel. The obtained results for Mofeed show that the AGM battery (0.359) is the best option in comparison with the conventional and Gel batteries (0.338 and 0.302 respectively). The results confirmed that this developed model can be used as a new decision-support tool to aid decision makers’ selections of batteries.
