In the present study, Zinc oxide (ZnO) composite was prepared by simple solution combustion method and investigated for its photocatalytic activity against color induced by Coralene Red F3BS dye. The study was performed in a systematic manner searching optimum decolorization at different ZnO composite dosage and pH. All the experiments were conducted in normal laboratory condition in presence of sunlight. The treatment with prepared ZnO composite proved to be very effective in removing the color (∼ 99%) atpH 12.9 in 45 min. Further, at pH 7 and 3.0, only ∼ 80% and ∼ 90% color removal was recorded in 90 minutes. Economically feasible and adaptable preparation (combustion) method of ZnO composite and the current experimental setup reported in this article is helpful in treating textile effluents due to its low cost and simplicity.
