Abstract

Mosquitoes are pestiferous insects which are responsible for the transmission various dreadful diseases. Study on density of mosquitoes was carriedout from Keela Arunachalapuram, a dry area of Vilathikulam Taluk, Thoothukudi District, Tamil Nadu, India. In the present study, eleven species of mosquitoes belong to four genera Aedes, Anopheles, Armigeres and Culex were recorded. Culex quinquefasciatus, Anopheles subpictus and Armigeres subalbatus were the most dominant species of mosquitoes recorded in all the regions of the study area.
