Abstract

In this paper, the environmental performance of a night vision camera (NVC) is evaluated. The Night vision camera is produced by Autoliv. Life cycle analysis methodology is used to assess the cradle to grave performance of NVC. – introduction about product, Different steps of LCA, methodology to collect data and environmental results from different categories along with dominance analysis over the life cycle are discussed in this paper. The results shows that life cycle analysis of a night vision camera cause Acidification corresponding to 0.06 Kg of SO2, global warming equivalent to 20.48 Kg of CO2, human toxicity equal to 0.017 Kg of PO4−3, ecotoxicity equivalent of 28.81 kg of 1,4 dichloro benzene, water consumption 701.38 Kg, energy consumption 1687.89 MJ and total waste amount is 1.89 Kg. The most dominant processes are production of lens assembly, printed circuit boards (power and video), heat sink and use phase.
