The water yield of conventional vertical well is not enough to meet the water usage requirements in the regions of the Yellow River Valley, where Quaternary overburden thickness is quite thin. This article make Liujiawan Village as an example which locates at Shanxi Province. On the basis of a brief introduction of local hydrogeological conditions, the radial collector well is proposed to be the method for groundwater exploitation. By adopting the three-dimensional groundwater flow finite difference method, the water yield is computed for different scenarios which include radial collector wells working simultaneously during normal season and dry season, and the interference between adjacent wells is also studied. The water yield of recommended exploitation scheme is 33000m3/d in normal season, while is 19000m3/d in dry season.
