Abstract

This paper presents the performances of an anaerobic Complete Mix Bioreactors for the treatment of distillery wastewater (vinasses) coming from molasses. The study was axed on the follow of many parameters especially pH, temperature (T), volatile fatty acids (VFA),alkalinity, Chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal and produced biogas. The variations of these parameters were followed during more than one year taking into account the organic loading rates (OLR). The performances of the bioreactor were satisfactory despite the relatively high values of rejected COD, which requires an additional treatment. The amount of produced biogas was considerably with a fraction of methane reaching 70%.
