H.asiatica was used for the domestic waste water treatment. The study was carried out to investigate the COD, BOD removal of the waste water. Waste water generated from the university canteen was used for the study. A rectangular hydroponic reac-tor was employed for the experiment. The plants were collected from nearby wetland areas and the experiments were conducted in indoor with necessary fittings. The initial COD 100 mg/l was maintained in the starting and then it was increased gradually up to 1800 mg/l. Effluent was collected after 24 hrs HRT and less than that with different plant densities. The H.asiatica was given 90% COD, 97% BOD removal. Control reactor was given 10% COD removal. H.asiatica has proved that it can achieve 90% of pollutant removal.
