Abstract

The potential impact of high voltage power transmission line on Brassica juncea and Saccharum officinarum growth are investigated under field conditions at Kamalpur (23.08ºN, 88.51ºE) and near Plassey monument (23.78 ºN, 88.24 ºE) in Nadia district, West Bengal. 132 KV and 400 KV power lines are passing over the two sites respectively. The effect of EMF from 132 KV and 400 KV on plant growth parameters are observed to decrease with distance from beneath the central line. Therefore the EMF may have an important role to optimize the bio-stimulation through further studies.
