This paper studied the repairable system with M operating machines, S warm standby machines and R heterogeneous servers where warm standby machines have switching failure probability q. Once all spares are utilized, system starts working under degraded mode due to load sharing. It is assumed that failure and repair times of the machines follow the exponential distribution. Steady state probability is evaluated using successive over relaxation (SOR) technique. A cost model is developed in order to obtain the optimum number of repairmen and spare machines maintaining the system availability at minimum specified level. We performed sensitivity analysis under optimum operating conditions.
