Abstract

Environmental factors, temperature, pH and inoculum, were optimized for the production of cellulase using Bacillus sp.SB-18. Twenty runs were carried out according to central composite design (CCD) in response surface method (RSM), which is a powerful mathematical approach widely applied in the optimization of fermentation process parameters. The optimum conditions for the maximum production of cellulase (970.52U/L) were found to be: temperature 30.16°C, pH 7 and inoculum 5%. Higher value of R2 (0.9191) indicates a good fitness of the second order response model.
