Cardio-vascular disease (CVD) is now the most common cause of death worldwide. Sudden death (SD) is mainly defined as rapid, unexpected & natural death. This investigation was designed to examine the relationship of parameters like weight of the heart (in sudden cardiac death), histopathological examinations of the heart, brain, kidney and liver to generate epidemiological data of sudden death in a semi-urban setting. Cardiac enlargement or hypertrophy is itself a risk factor for sudden cardiac death. Structurally normal heart has also been found in a proportion of sudden deaths in the present series.
