Human Identification Using Forensic Odontology: A Review

Abstract

Forensic Odontology makes utilisation of human identification in two major method which consist of identification of human remains based on the dental records of the antemortem data and post mortem dental profiling in cases where no antemortem records exist. Awareness amongst dentists is essential in persons identification. Thus, making dental records mandatory with the collective applications of the numerous dental features in identification thus helping the authorities to recognize negligence, malpractice, fraud or abuse and most importantly identification of unknown individuals using forensic odontology.
