Development of teeth plays an essential role in age estimation, as it constitute a chain of discernible events that occur in the same succession from the beginning till its end. Pedodontists and Orthodontists have particular interest towards Dental age estimationas it plays a crucial role in managing various types of malocclusions, relating it with dentofacial growth as the treatment plancan be decided by the stage of tooth eruption and/or tooth formation.
With increase in number of feticides, it has become imperative for medical, dental and legal profession to depend on dental and oral structures as they not only follow a predictive pattern in-utero and after eruption but also is highly resistance. This paper intends to review the most commonly accepted and used method of age assessment in pre-natal, neonatal and early post-natal period.
