Present study was conducted during kharif 2018 at the experimental research farm of the Department of Vegetable Science, College of Horticulture and Forestry, Neri, Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh to know the extent of variability, genotypic coefficient of variation and phenotypic coefficient of variation, heritability and genetic advance in 20 different genotypes of brinjal. The study revealed significant differences among the genotypes for all the horticultural characters indicating considerable variability. The highest fruit yield per plant was recorded by the genotype B-COHFNERI-9 (1.11 kg) followed by Arka Kusumkar (1.08 kg), Pusa Purple Cluster (0.97 kg), B-COHFNERI-4 (0.95 kg) and B-COHFNERI-2 (0.92 kg). High magnitude of GCV and PCV was recorded for the traits like number of marketable fruits per plant, fruit length, stem diameter and 100-seed weight. High estimates of heritability and genetic advance were recorded by the horticultural traits days to first picking, pedicel length, fruit length, average fruit weight, number of marketable fruits per plant, number of primary branches per plant, plant height, stem diameter, plant spread and 100-seed weight.
