Abstract

This study investigated the impact of nano-urea application on rice (Oryza sativa L) growth and productivity in the Jammu region of Jammu and Kashmir. A field experiment was conducted using a randomized block design with ten treatments, varying nitrogen (N) application rates and nano-urea foliar sprays. Results demonstrated that treatments combining reduced recommended doses of nitrogen (RDN) with two foliar sprays of nano-urea at active tillering (AT) and panicle initiation (PI) significantly enhanced yield attributes, grain and straw yield and nutrient uptake. Specifically, treatments with 75 per cent RDN + nano-urea, 50 per cent RDN + nano-urea and 100 per cent RDN + nano-urea showed the highest performance compared to the control. The study confirmed that nano-urea effectively improves nitrogen utilization and enhances rice productivity, suggesting its potential as a viable alternative to conventional urea fertilization.
