Recent advances in on-farm paddy storage

Presently various studies are being done on paddy storage. This paper is an effort to summarize recent advances in on-site farm paddy storage. An attempt has also been made to compile relevant details from other studies which can be used for improving the paddy storage in different environments like silo, open environment and traditional storage systems. The paper also concludes the use of hermetic storage for small farmers and jute sacks for open environment storage of paddy. Impacts of storage period of paddy under different environments have profound effect on storage in terms of decreased bulk density and germination percentage.
