Abstract

Loan use pattern of SHG members was studied in Dharwad district of Karnataka. Majority of groups saved Rs 10–20 per meeting and young women had taken income generating activities. The average loan per individual ranged from Rs 10250 to Rs 20000. Of the 159 groups studied 29 groups had taken up income generating activities. The study revealed that SHGs had empowered women by enabling them to taken up income generating activities. Most of the SHGs availed loan from the banks under Swarnajayanti Yojana.
