Abstract

A trial was conducted to test the efficacy of Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone (GnRH) on the conception rate in repeat breeding cows. Thirty-two cows brought to the artificial insemination (AI) centre of Sivagangai district Co-operative milk producers union limited, in Muraiyur village were included in this study. Cows of group I served as control and they were inseminated during estrum. Cows of group II were injected with 10 mg of GnRH analogue (Buserelin acetate, Receptal®, Intervet, UK) intramuscularly at the time of AI. Group II cows that received GnRH at the time of AI showed a higher conception rate than the control group (56 Vs 25 per cent).
