Abstract

An outbreak of duck cholera was investigated which recorded a mortality rate of 21%. Impression smears from heart, lungs and liver were taken and stained with Gram stain and Methylene blue stain uniformly revealed Gram-ve coccobacillary organisms. Pure culture of the organism were made and subjected to biochemical tests. On the basis of cultural and biochemical tests the organism was identified as Pastuerella multocida. The pure cultures were subjected to in vitro antibiotic sensitivity test. Enrofloxacin and Gentamicin were found to be highly sensitive.
