The research was conducted on cadaveric tibial models of dogs to mimic the clinical situations of tibial fractures and then to stabilize these using Ilizarov apparatus with an objective to standardize the basic principles of Ilizarov technique and also to get hands on practice for better understanding of its application in clinical setup. Further, a small scale biomechanical study was conducted which demonstrated the utility of the system in resisting the different fracture forces especially the axial, bending and rotational forces.
