Abstract

A study was conducted to assess the efficacy of herbal preparation containing Embelia ribes (Vayvidanga), Butea frondosa (Palash), Carica papaya (Papaya), Terminalia chebula (Hirda) and Nigella sativa (Kalajira) in equal proportion and was found effective against gastrointestinal nematodes in local pigs. The herbal preparation given orally at dose rate of 5 gm per animal twice a day reduces cent per cent EPG of helminthes in 13 days after treatment. The prevalence study revealed 78.60% helminthic infection of Ascaris sp. with in pigs.
