Fifteen winter freshly calved and twelve summer calved Murrah buffaloes of different age and parity were selected to observed the effect of additional feeding of UMMB. 85.18% of the postpartum buffaloes exhibited estrus within 60 days postpartum. The buffaloes calved in winter exhibited behavioural estrus earlier (39.6 ± 0.5 days) than summer calvers (45.0 ± 0.0 days). The onset of ovarian activity was earlier in UMMB supplemented group (42.23 ±1.88 and 33.64 ± 11.16 days) than in control group (45.0 ± 0.0 and 39.6 ±. 50 days) in both summer and winter season, respectively. Weight loss in animals was more during the first two weeks postpartum.The supplemented group animals exhibited estrus only when they started gaining weight.
