Abstract

The objectives of the present study was to investigate the prevalence of Listeria spp. from chevon samples. Screening of 50 chevon samples for Listeria indicated an overall 6% positivity. Among the Listeria isolates, the species L. welshimeri (4%) was predominant followed by L. innocua (2%). All the three isolates were non-haemolytic, CAMP negative and PI-PLC negative.
