A comparative study was carried out on efficacy of oral administration of Amprolium and Dinitro-O-toluamide (DOT) compounds @ 500 g/ton feed against coccidiosis in chicks and grower poultry birds from 0 to 16 weeks of age at an organized farm based on prevalence of coccidial oocysts in litter and droppings as well as gross body weight and body weight gain at 4 weekly intervals. Not a single sample was found positive for coccidial parasites in birds/litter under study. DOT compounds were found cost effective with better efficacy on body weight and body weight gain as compared to Amprolium as a coccidiostat in feed. Good hygiene and management helped in prevention of the coccidial prevalence and enhanced the growth rate of chicks and growers.
